About the event
This full-day training is designed to build both foundational knowledge and applied clinical skills related to human trafficking within behavioral healthcare settings. Participants will develop a clear understanding of the elements and forms of human trafficking, challenge common misconceptions, and examine the social and systemic factors that increase vulnerability. The training will equip attendees to identify indicators of trafficking, utilize recommended screening and clinical tools, and ask safe, trauma-informed questions of individuals who may be experiencing exploitation. Emphasis is placed on ethical and effective responses using the Stages of Change model and a survivor-centered, empowerment-based approach that prioritizes confidentiality, autonomy, and safety. Participants will also identify supportive resources and referral options to enhance coordinated care and improve outcomes for survivors of human trafficking.
